# Change your email address

Change the email address you sign in with, confirmed from your new inbox

Your email address is how you sign in to AdPage, so changing it takes one extra step: you confirm the new address before it becomes active. That way a typo can never lock you out, and nobody can move your account to an address that isn't theirs.

Your password stays the same.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open your settings

Log in to [AdPage](https://data.adpage.io/auth/login) and go to **Settings**.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enter your new address

Under **Account details**, replace your email address. A **Change to …** button appears as soon as the new address is valid.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Confirm it is you

Enter your current password, plus your 2FA code if two-factor authentication is switched on. Then click **Send confirmation link**.

Nothing has changed yet. You stay signed in, and you still sign in with your current address.

<figure><img src="https://1908438300-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fvuyv7mcuSvQb9yTkzfeA%2Fuploads%2FlqzBzjSaJ32nExasvj63%2FArc%202026-09-14%2013.57.11.png?alt=media&amp;token=0bf3b468-97b3-48c7-9deb-b23b88c41b13" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click the link in your new inbox

Two emails go out at this point: a confirmation link to your **new** address, and a notice to your **current** address with a link to stop the change. Only the confirmation link makes the change happen — if you ignore both emails, your address stays as it is.

Open the confirmation email on your new address and click the link. It is valid for 60 minutes.

If you are asked to sign in, use your **current** address and password — those are still the active ones until the change goes through.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Your email address is updated the moment you click the link. From then on you sign in with the new address.

### If you did not request this

A notice also goes to your current address, with a **Stop the change** link. You do not need to be signed in to use it: click it and the request is cancelled.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Change your password as well. Someone was able to reach your account, and cancelling the request does not undo that. If you are not sure what happened, contact AdPage support.
{% endhint %}

### If something does not work

* **The link expired.** It is valid for 60 minutes. Request the change again from your settings.
* **No email arrived.** Check your spam folder, and check the address on the banner in your settings for a typo. If it is wrong, simply request the change again with the right address.
* **"This email address is already in use."** The address belongs to another AdPage account. Use a different one, or contact AdPage support.
* **You hit a limit.** A change can be requested five times per 24 hours, and once per minute.

Working with an agency? Your agency or AdPage support can update your email address for you. In that case there is no confirmation link — the change is applied directly.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.adpage.io/accountmanagement/account-and-users/change-your-email-address.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
